Approval was given this week for a 20-year lease on the old Charlestown Health Clinic to Charlestown Community Childcare Ltd.

Council still owed millions by central Government

The issue of the amount of money owed by central Government to Mayo County Council for works carried out by the council was raised again this week at the monthly meeting of Mayo County Council. Cllr Eugene Lavin brought up the issue asking Peter Duggan, head of finance for Mayo County Council, how much money was owed and how much the council had to pay in relation to interest charges on loans that it has had to take out to cover the debt.

Legal issues currently being discussed before grit made available to public

Following a presentation from Mr Iarla Moran on Mayo County Council’s winter maintenance plan at this week’s Swinford Electoral Area meeting, a number of councillors called for grit to be deposited in strategic locations for local groups to use to grit local roads.

Fine Gael councillor Eugene Lavin this week bemoaned the delays that have beset the works on the Kiltimagh to Bohola road.
